SUMMARY:Ecole d'été Statistics for Data Science S4D'18 (18-22/06/2018)
DESCRIPTION:Context and objectives:\nLarge-scale data analysis is an inherently multidisciplinary area and is becoming increasingly important in the today’s society where we are confronted with the « Big Data » phenomenon\, which are data on a large-scale in terms of dimension\, volume\, and complexity. The Research Summer School on Statistics for Data Science (S4D) is a multidisciplinary international summer school at the interface of several disciplines: statistics\, computer science (machine learning)\, optimization and signal processing\, with a focus on probabilistic/statistical formulations of recent methodologies dedicated to the problem of learning from large-scale complex data. \nIt will involve\, during 5 days\, for an audience of PhD students\, engineers\, postdocs and scientists\, several international pioneering scientists in modern statistics\, machine learning and artificial intelligence to present their expertise on both theoretical and technical aspects of models and algorithms to address data science problems with a focus on large-scale/high-dimensional scenarios. \nThe objectives of the talks are to: \n\npresent the basic developments of models for phd students and practitioners to understand the basics of the domain;\nhighlight for students\, scientists and practitioners the major scientific issues necessary for the development of such models and on the related theoretical and computational problems;\npresent and analyze the latest theoretical advances in modeling and practical considerations regarding statistical learning\, classification\, representation\, of large-scale raw data\, in various application area

SUMMARY:Conférence CAP 2018 (20-22/06/2018)
DESCRIPTION:CAp is the annual meeting of the francophone Machine Learning community. The conference is a place of exchange and sharing of experiences in the field of machine learning with presentations of original research results. In 2018\, the 20th edition of CAp will be held in Rouen. As the image of the city\, characterized by an interdisciplinary culture\, the field of machine learning is at the interface of several scientific communities such as computer science\, applied mathematics\, neuroscience and human sciences. This multidisciplinary has played a leading role in the recent development of the area\, both in terms of methodology and applications. \nThe CAp 2018 Program Committee\, chaired by Yves Grandvalet\, invites you to submit your work in the field of machine learning. Cap 2018 also offers two special sessions on the themes: « Machine Learning in Games » (organized by Tristan Cazenave) and « Machine Learning for Health » (organized by Chloe-Agathe Azencott). \nImportant Dates \n\nAbstracts due:\nApril 13\, 2018\nPapers due:\nApril 20\, 2018\nNotification:\nMay 25\, 2018\nCamera-ready copy:\nJune 8\, 2018\nConference:\nJune 20-22\, 2018
